LEVI'S® ORANGE TAB™
In the 1960s LEVI’S introduced the «ORANGE TAB™» as their experimental «Fashion Denim», spanning their entire range from jackets to flares, big bells and bootcuts.
«ORANGE TAB™» became a staple of the youth, blurring the lines between classic denim silhouettes, and moving away from the comfort zone of fits that LEVI'S were known for.
«ORANGE TAB™» jeans are harder to come by, due to their age, but they're a treasure trove for vintage denim enthusiasts!

The Heritage & History of the Former Levi Strauss & Co. Plant No. 585 (Wichita Falls, Texas, U.S.A.)
The history of the Levi Strauss & Co. Wichita Falls plant in Texas began in the post-World War II era, when the company's management made a strategic decision to expand production beyond California to meet the growing demand for denim clothing in the American Southwest. The enterprise, located at 501 Travis Street, opened in 1946. It became one of the first and key outposts of Levi Strauss in Texas, laying the foundation for the brand's further expansion in the region, including the opening of the neighboring factory in Denison in 1949, where experienced employees from Wichita Falls were being transferred.
Initially, the factory specialized in the mass production of classic waist overalls and durable denim clothing for men and boys. A region with a developed culture of ranching and farming was ideally suited for expanding the market for the famous denim trousers. Over time, the enterprise was modernized and turned into a large industrial complex, where iconic jeans (including the Levi's 505 line) and popular casual clothing from the Dockers line were produced.
Over the decades of its operation, the factory survived major trials: in April 1979, the complex was seriously damaged by a devastating tornado that struck Wichita Falls, but production was restored. The enterprise remained an important economic pillar of the city and provided hundreds of jobs until the late 1990s.
The Wichita Falls factory was closed in 1999 as part of a global restructuring of Levi Strauss & Co., when the company moved its manufacturing facilities from the U.S.A., mostly to the countries of the Asian region.

Levi Strauss & Co., the California Gold Rush era outfitter whose iconic blue jeans have been an American clothing staple for generations, closed its last two U.S. plants in San Antonio, Texas by the end of 2003.
By that time, more than 20 other U.S. plants had already been shut down.
Soon after, in March 2004, the last three Canadian facilities were closed as well, leaving no plants in North America. This marked the end of American-made Levi's denim, a history that began in the 1850s.
The most iconic Levi's denim factory, founded on Valencia Street in San Francisco, was closed in 2002. The building itself was sold in 2005.
