The ultimate longevity of these collectible ADIDAS® EQT.® GAZELLE® 1CA runners is ensured by a scientifically rigorous, two-step conservation process designed to eliminate the primary risk of vintage/deadstock sneakers: Polyurethane Hydrolysis, Mold, Mildew, and Rubber Oxidation, while maintaining the necessary material flexibility.

I. STAGE 1: INITIAL DEHUMIDIFICATION (The Pre-Drying Rescue Phase)

These ADIDAS® EQT.® GAZELLE® 1CA runners undergo a critical week-long pre-drying phase where they are exposed to a dedicated 50g of 150°C-activated Silica Gel per each sneaker: the essential step for actively extracting the excess moisture absorbed by the materials (TORSION® TPU/EVA/adiPRENE®/adiPRENE® PLUS) over the decades, stabilizing them before RH-maintenance stage.

II. STAGE 2: OPTIMAL HUMIDITY MAINTENANCE METHOD (Maintenance Mode)

Following the pre-drying phase, the aggressive initial desiccant is removed to prevent over-drying and brittleness. The sneakers are then stored in the original retail box (non-airtight) to allow the materials to achieve a stable RH level (40% – 60%) necessary for material flexibility.

— PROTECTION LEVEL (BALANCE): This method prioritizes a balance between chemical preservation and physical flexibility, relying on the stable, controlled RH of the storage environment, to maintain a stable RH (40% – 60%) necessary for long-term stability.

— OBSERVATION-SAFE: Sneakers are stored in their original box, ensuring protection from light and dust. Strict non-contact viewing protocols (via photos or seller's handling only) are applied to preserve the PRISTINE DEADSTOCK-CONDITION.

RESULT: The meticulous two-stage conservation process reduces the risk of accelerated polymer decay to an ABSOLUTE MINIMUM, keeping these sneakers in current PRISTINE DEADSTOCK-CONDITION for decades to come!

1999 ADIDAS® EQUIPMENT® GAZELLE® 1CA Performance Technologies:

— Adidas adiPRENE® — adiPRENE® was first introduced with the Adidas Ozweego sneaker in 1996. It's a progressive insert in the sole of the shoe that provides heel protection. The development is an exclusive adidas elastic material that meets the highest requirements for cushioning of the foot in motion.

adiPRENE® absorbs the force of impact during running, providing superior cushioning and joint protection from stress. The insert also guarantees a high level of comfort during walking.

The material consists of dense rubber, thanks to which the insert absorbs any impact of the foot against hard surfaces, such as asphalt, granite, or concrete. It should be noted that adiPRENE® does not replace other cushioning materials (the same EVA), but is used additionally, enhancing the effect of shock absorption.

— Adidas adiPRENE® PLUS — The adiPRENE® PLUS technology offers the same benefit as adiPRENE® technology, but instead of being an absorbent foam, it is a springy foam. The more springy foam vs. the absorbent foam provides not just cushioning, but responsive cushioning. This cushioning allows for quicker movements and reactions.

The adiPRENE® PLUS springy technology provides an extra spring with every step taken. The cushioning responds and springs back with every step.

As opposed to adiPRENE® technology, adiPRENE® PLUS technology is placed under the toes for an extra spring in your step.

— Adidas TORSION® System — This outsole component has been a mainstay in performance Adidas models since its introduction in 1988.

It is a thermoplastic arch support designed to allow the forefoot and rearfoot to move independently and adapt to running surfaces without straining the foot through excess motion. TORSION® excels by allowing the midfoot to naturally adjust to the ground and offering high levels of support and stability which are suitable for a range of sports.

Think of the Adidas TORSION® System as a lightweight bridge between the forefoot and heel.
