CORCORAN WWII PARATROOPER JUMP FIELD BOOTS BRIEF HISTORY

These boots were designed in 1941 specifically for the airborne infantry, and put into action for the 82nd Airborne. The most significant change from regular infantry boots were the lack of leggings which prevented the snagging of parachute risers.

They are also known as paratrooper boots, or "CORCORANS" after the J. F. Corcoran Shoe Company, one of their manufacturers. These boots are still handmade in the U.S.A. and very durable, comfortable and fashionable.

These handmade in Martinsburg, Pennsylvania, U.S.A., CORCORAN® Paratrooper Jump Field Boots made for USAF went through the Kosovo campaign in 1999 and two Iraqi campaigns in 2003–2004.

My family member is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force (USAF) who served there back in days. These Corcorans were a gift in October 2004, as an actual war artifact of those campaigns, and have been carefully stored ever since.
